{"id":47776,"date":"2015-08-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/3090326-fork.findlaw4.flsitebuilder.com\/blog\/2015\/08\/business-cannot-prohibit-legal-weapons-in-locked-autos\/"},"modified":"2015-08-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-08-06T05:00:00","slug":"business-cannot-prohibit-legal-weapons-in-locked-autos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frasierlaw.com\/?p=47776","title":{"rendered":"Business Cannot Prohibit Legal Weapons in Locked Autos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Workers cannot be prohibited from legally transporting a weapon in their vehicle onto an employer&#8217;s property.<\/p>\n<p>It is legal in Oklahoma to transport an unloaded weapon, like an unloaded hunting rifle or shotgun, in an automobile, if the weapon is locked in a car&#8217;s trunk or glove box, even while the vehicle is on an employer&#8217;s property.<\/p>\n<p>The current law (Title 21, Section 1289.7a) reads:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No person, property owner, tenant, employer, or business entity shall maintain, establish, or enforce any policy or rule that has the effect of prohibiting any person, except a convicted felon, from transporting and storing firearms or ammunition in a locked motor vehicle, or from transporting and storing firearms or ammunition locked in or locked to a motor vehicle on any property set aside for any motor vehicle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>An important exception to this current law is property owned by the federal government.
