Workers cannot be prohibited from legally transporting a weapon in their vehicle onto an employer’s property.<\/p>\n
It is legal in Oklahoma to transport an unloaded weapon, like an unloaded hunting rifle or shotgun, in an automobile, if the weapon is locked in a car’s trunk or glove box, even while the vehicle is on an employer’s property.<\/p>\n
The current law (Title 21, Section 1289.7a) reads:<\/p>\n
“No person, property owner, tenant, employer, or business entity shall maintain, establish, or enforce any policy or rule that has the effect of prohibiting any person, except a convicted felon, from transporting and storing firearms or ammunition in a locked motor vehicle, or from transporting and storing firearms or ammunition locked in or locked to a motor vehicle on any property set aside for any motor vehicle.”<\/p>\n
An important exception to this current law is property owned by the federal government. A second is that weapons cannot be taken on school property.<\/p>\n
