Throughout the months of February and March 2016, employers in the oil industry are encouraged to Stand-Up for Safety. During this time, employers are encouraged to offer training, inspect job sites and take other steps to create safer working conditions on job sites. The event is a joint effort between NIOSH, OSHA and the National Service, Transmission, Exploration & Production Safety (STEPS) Network.<\/p>\n
A website is available to help employers learn more about how to keep workers safe. In addition to the Stand-Up for Safety event, OSHA<\/a>, NIOSH and the Center for Construction Research and Training have organized National Safety Stand-Down event, which is dedicated to teaching employers and workers more about the danger of falls on construction sites.<\/p>\n More than 4 million workers took place in similar events in 2014 and 2015. It is expected that thousands of employers will take part in the 2016 version. OSHA has announced that it will provide employers with a chance to give their feedback after the event, and they will receive certificates of participation. The goal of the Stand-Down is to give workers and employers the chance to take part of their workday to examine job sites for potential safety hazards.<\/p>\n
