Personal injuries can happen in a number of ways, but the most common is through a motor vehicle accident. When you’re traveling, it’s possible to end up in a collision. Even if you’re somewhere you’re familiar with, there is the risk of hazards on the roads.<\/p>\n

One of the hazards to watch out for includes deer. Oklahoma’s deer season<\/a> begins in October and ends in January. During this time, it is common to see deer crossing the street, through fields and even in cities. Many of these animals are spooked by hunters.<\/p>\n

The greater worry during deer season is not that you won’t watch for deer but that others won’t. People traveling from out of state or those who are unfamiliar with driving might not realize how common animals are around the roadways.<\/p>\n

What can you do to avoid a collision due to deer?<\/strong><\/p>\n

First, watch for signs that deer are in the area. If you see a sign, then slow down and prepare for sudden stops. Vehicles in front of you may travel at the speed limit or even above, but it’s best to give yourself space in case the person in front of you has to make a sudden stop.<\/p>\n

If you notice one deer near the roadway, keep in mind that it’s likely there are others following behind. Deer travel in herds, so there is a likelihood that they will travel together and enter the roadway at different times.<\/p>\n
