An Oklahoma City woman was killed recently in a hit-and-run crash, and a driver later was arrested and charged in her death.<\/p>\n
The 60-year-old woman was crossing<\/a> South Pennsylvania Avenue near Southwest 38th Street in the city when she was struck. According to police, she lived a few blocks from a bus stop, and she walked there every morning to take the bus to work.<\/p>\n A witness was able to give a description of the vehicle that hit the woman, which was described as an older, white Chevrolet pickup truck. After a brief investigation, police traced the truck to a 25-year-old man, who allegedly had hidden the car at the home of a former girlfriend.<\/p>\n The woman told police that the man had fled to Texas, and she convinced him to return to Oklahoma. He turned himself into police about 16 hours after the crash and was booked into Oklahoma County Jail on one count of leaving the scene<\/a> of a deadly accident.<\/p>\n Residents who live near the site of the crash said the area has a lot of pedestrians, but drivers often don’t slow down for them.<\/p>\n People who knew the woman said she was a volunteer at the area Salvation Army and was a widow.<\/p>\n “She was kind-hearted,” a friend told News 9. “She would do anything for you if she could.”<\/p>\n The woman lived with her late husband’s parents, who undoubtedly counted on her to help them.<\/p>\n
